Hampton Loade

After a night out I was up bright eyed and not so bushy tailed to head out for the day with Karl. I waited but unfortunatley due to Karl not been able to handle his ale I was to be on my own for the day. I couldn't decide wether to go or not, but eventually decided on a few hours at Hampton Loade after hearing good reports from the Unicorn section last weekend.

I picked a swim halfway along the beat with a comfortable area to fish one rod, which I am becoming quite keen on.

Stanley Water on a lovely winters day.

I got a good nights sleep after a day on the Avon on Wedesday, blanking incidentally! I woke up early to a fantastic sunny winters morning. It was really warm and I decided on a spur of the moment trip to Stanley. Conditions for barbel were far from ideal, but I just fancied a nice afternoon by the river soaking up the sun.

Back on the water for 3 days!

Andy Myers, the chap with the monsters in the gallery, contacted me about a weekends fishing he was planning on . He was bringing two mates who were arriving friday and fishing till Sunday afternoon. I reshuffled my leave and agreed to take them to a few of my favourite spots.

As luck would have it the heavens opened in Wales a week before the trip was planned and on the wednesday the river was near 5m which is the highest since 2008. This made my initial choices unfishable and with the river ...
